Pure and raw wildflower honey

About our honey

Our honey is bottled in our home kitchen after being harvested from the hives. We use very large opening filters (or colanders) to make sure we remove any large foreign particles that may have followed us into the house but leave any pollen and health benefits of the raw honey. Filtered honey has been filtered so that all or most of the fine particles, pollen grains, air bubbles and other materials normally found in suspension have been removed. We do not remove these items with the large filters so our honey would be considered unfiltered by that definition. You may see pieces of comb floating in your honey and will find air bubbles in our jars.

We occasionally have comb honey available when the bees fill in frames that are set up for comb honey. If you are interested in comb honey please let us know early so we can set some aside for you when we have it.

Our bees forage in the city so our honey is considered wildflower honey because there are no dominant flowers in their area.

Notes:

Children under the age of 12 months should not ingest honey due to the risk of Infant Botulism.

Raw honey is only strained before it is bottled, which means it retains most of the beneficial nutrients and antioxidants that it naturally contains. Conversely, regular honey may undergo a variety of processing, which may remove beneficial nutrients like pollen and reduce its level of antioxidants.

Crystallization is a natural process when the glucose in honey precipitates out of the liquid honey. Different varieties of honey will crystallize at different rates with some not at all. You can bring it back to liquid state by heating the bottle in warm water. Be sure not to scorch or overheat the honey during this process. Also keep in mind that you can eat the honey in a crystallized form.

If you have any questions about our honey please send us a note and ask. We love to talk about our bees and their honey.
